Leo Abbott is a Southern/Western Aranda man that has experience in Natural Resource Management/Cultural Management, has experience as a Ranger working with the Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory, considerable experience in the Pastoral Industry, and has worked with the Ilpurla Program for many years.
Leo has also worked for both the Federal and Territory governments in an advisory capacity. He advised in the areas of Indigenous Affairs, Native Title and Aboriginal issues/cases and advised the Northern Territory Attorney Generals department in Land Claims in the Northern Territory, Queensland and South Australia (Tri-State). He also assisted the Solicitor General and the Attorney Generals Department with the Native Title Claim, for Alice Springs.
Leo Abbott was an active member on the Ilpurla Program and continues to be, and a member on the Northern Territory Advisory Board for Local Government Reform.
Leo also played a major role with the roll out of the Indigenous Engagement Strategy as part of the Northern Territory Emergency Response (Intervention).
